Kids are adorable companies but they have some special needs to be dealt with especially when they are in unusual places or situations. When taking them with you for a travel, always remember the stuffs that kids might need.
First is food. Pack some dry finger foods, preferably both yummy and healthy. This will not only satisfy their hunger but will also keep them busy and happy. Take a small cooler to keep the drinks chilled. Watch them when they’re drinking to avoid spilling anything on their seats or the car’s or airplane’s interior. Avoid sticky and messy food to keep your seats as clean as possible.
When taking kids for a travel, don’t forget to bring some toys, activity books and other fun stuff they could use to keep them entertained throughout the travel. Coloring books and crayons are always kids’ favorites, but markers are not very advisable in trips very young ones. They may scribble on the window or the car’s interior when not guarded very well. It will also keep the kids comfortable to have their favorite toys with them as long that they are handy.
Roads trips can be very challenging when you have little kids to look after. Sometimes, you miss a lot of opportunities to relax and enjoy the view outside the car when kids start to fight each other, cry or complain about their endless needs to play, talk eat and a lot of things that are sometimes impossible when being in a road trip.
Their very limited attention span makes them get bored easily. That is why, as a parent or guardian, you will need to have variety of things or plans in mind to effectively deal with kids, especially with extra-bored kids inside a car for a long ride.
When taking children for a road trip, always make sure that they put on their seat belts or use car-seats for the very young ones. Kids may hate these safety measures restricting their little freedom to move, but you can never tell when the next sudden turn or brake might be.
To reduce kids’ many possibilities of getting bored and before they resort to unwanted ways to entertain themselves, it will be safe to let them take naps. Naps in road trips can be very comfortable and easy for both children and parents. When children are sleeping, the parents can peacefully doze off too or just sit and watch the window. It is advisable to have long trips in kids’ sleeping hours so that they’d easily fall asleep, as long as the driver is sleepy himself in those hours.
Have some occasional stops to rest and stretch. When stopping for rest, make sure that the area is suitable for kids. You may stop in some grassy and clean place where kids could freely walk and run around to freely give their tired bodies some break. You may take some picnic blankets in your trip to some occasional picnics when stopping to rest.
Toddlers’ attention span is rather too short compared to older children. That’s why they need variety of fun activities to keep them busy and happy. Boredom can be a very bad enemy when it comes to managing young children in travel. The following activities are suggested to help you keep you toddlers and young children from bursting into tantrums, impatience and rowdy playing.
First, you will need to carry with you some thin coloring books. Children are often fond of coloring or drawing. You may also bring some other activity books and picture books.
When you forgot to bring these activity books, improvise whatever material is available. You may draw funny eyes and lips on a sick bag and entertain your kids with stories (real stories from memory or made up ones).
Clays are also one of the handy toys you may want to take with you. Children often love creating different shapes with clay and this activity may consume most of their time already.
When riding in an airplane, it will amuse children to be seated near the window. Then try to explain to them the scenes you see underneath or the barely visible clouds around.
Always take your kid’s favorite stuff toy or a little car or airplane so that they could play their little airplanes while being in an actual airplane, or with their cars while riding an actual car. These toys may help them associate play with the real life situations.
One last activity they could do is sleeping. Put your kids to sleep before going to sleep yourself so that you could make sure that they wouldn’t be bored to death while nobody is looking after them or entertaining them. Sleeping kids cannot disturb you in your naps too.
And the must-have of all is food. Take some food, drinks or candy with you when travelling. Hunger is worse than boredom when it hits children.
Keeping toddlers happy and well-behaved is a challenge for parents in their everyday activities. In traveling with them, taking care of toddlers can be much more difficult given the uncomfortable environment, having to wait in lines, catching up time and other factors that make toddlers uneasy and harder to manage.
Toddlers are in a stage of discovering themselves and finding out what their little bodies could do. In this stage, they begin to escape their parent’s grip and run around mindless of the dangers they get themselves into. They begin to learn how to cope with the world and they even learn some techniques on how to get what they want. Now, they show really limited patience and often bug adults with their tantrums.
Understanding their behavior is a good start in learning how to manage toddlers. And learning how to manage toddlers in ordinary occasions can be a good step in keeping them happy, safe and well-behaved in some usual and uncomfortable situations such as being in the public area, waiting in a line or riding public transportation.
When toddlers start bugging adults with questions and pleadings for some game or toys, opportunities to teach them something should be grabbed by parents. When a toddler asks a question, it only reveals that he/she starts to develop a curios and critical mind. As much as possible, give toddlers appropriate answers that will make them think and understand things the right way.
Toddlers should be given much attention so that their early needs are met. No matter how odd or uncomfortable the situation may be, there is always a right way on how to handle toddlers.
When travelling with toddlers, it is important that parents take some toys or things that will keep them from getting bored. Consider taking some books, puzzles, dolls, or little animals to keep them entertained.
Also, keep watching them and make them feel that they have your attention no matter how busy you are. A simple pat or little chats with them may keep them happy and behaved.
A family trip or vacation can be the best way to keep a healthy atmosphere in your home. Leaving all the pressure of work and school behind, each member of the family can relish a very relaxing break. To make most of your time and expenses, a well-thought and organized plan can really help a lot. Since a vacation promotes better relationship among members, we advise that each should be involved and considered in planning the vacation. Ask everybody where they would want to go. Sometimes, the mere fact that one could go to the placed he/she has always wanted to go to is a reward enough. You may want to choose among the top spots that each one has suggested.
To accommodate the others’ preferences, aside from the ones whose suggestions were selected, it would be better to consider splitting the vacation into several more places within a shorter period for each spot. Places to be picked for split vacations should not be too far apart from each other. If they are far from each other, the means of transportation should be at least easy and comfortable.
From your little kids to their grandparents who may go with you, plans of vacation should be designed to satisfy everyone. We suggest that you take time to sit around your table and get each other’s ideas and wishes.
